Freeway Interchanges


IDs 1107-03-71, 1107-03-74, 1107-03-78,USH 41, USH 175, STH 175, Fond du Lac, WI –Freeway Modernization and interchanges, Fond du Lac County.

This was a $20 million freeway modernization project. This project included the removal of five existing structures, and the construction or reconstruction of six new structures along USH 41. This project was a two-year, multi stage project that consisted of asphalt and concrete paving, extensive grading, electrical, and structure work. This project also included in the field redesign of temporary roadways, and permanent roadways to allow the project to stay on a tight time line. Special considerations needed to be made for small and large businesses, as well as keeping USH 41 traffic open, and access to STH 175.



Rock Freeway Bowers Road Interchange IH-43, Walworth Co., Project ID: 1090-24-70

DAAR provided Construction Management for this $.5 million interchange project. The project consisted of grading, storm sewer, curb & gutter, erosion control, and landscaping.



IH94, Madison to Milwaukee Road, ID: 1066-01-71, STH 26 – CTH Q, Jefferson County,

Freeway Resurfacing consisted of SHES concrete pavement repairs, concrete pavement partial depth repairs, asphaltic concrete resurfacing, beam guard terminal upgrades, pavement marking, and raised pavement markers. Traffic on WB IH94 was maintained on existing travel lanes at all times.



Structures


Local Road, Lewis St., ID: 6217-02-71, City of Columbus, Columbia County

Construction Management for the $1.15 million bridge replacement project performed while maintaining train traffic. The existing bridge was removed and replaced while maintaining train traffic of two Amtrak passenger trains and approximately 26 freight trains running at speeds of up to 60 MPH. The new structure is a three span pre-stressed concrete girder bridge approximately 150 feet in length with retaining walls in all four quadrants to facilitate a profile change of 8 feet. The two retaining walls south of the bridge are concrete masonry resting on pile foundations and the other two structures north of the bridge walls are MSE Walls. Local accommodations include approximately 850 feet of decorative concrete parapets on the bridge and retaining walls with integral light bases. The project also included relocation of the access to a church, which is eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.



USH 12 Over STH 120, ID: 1080-02-06, Walworth County

This was a $1 M Bridge Redecking project encompassing two structures over STH 120. DAAR provided Construction Management Services which involved staged construction, performed under traffic.


STH 28, ID 4996-00-47, Broadway Avenue, Local Street, 17th St. – 14th St., Union Pacific Railroad Co. - Overhead Removal B-59-265

Removed bridge over Business 28 and the Union Pacific Railroad Company. The bridge was 700 feet in length and built in 1932. This project was for the reconstruction of Broadway Avenue, South Business Drive intersection, and Union Pacific Railroad at grade crossing. Also included the following; clearing & grubbing, excavation, erosion control, grading, storm sewer, crushed aggregate base course, retaining walls, concrete pavement, pavement marking, railing, signing, traffic signals, and landscaping.



North Emery Avenue Bridge, City of Peshtigo, Marinette County, Project ID: 9185-07-71

DAAR provided Construction Management for this urban bridge replacement project. The project included structure B-38-02, and reconstruction of the approaches with grading, base, HMA asphaltic pavement, curb & gutter, sidewalk and storm sewer.



USH 14. Project ID: 1640-00-62 Mazomanie – Black Earth Road, WSOR Rail Bridge B-13-329, Dane County

Project engineer for $0.3 million bridge overlay of USH 14 over the Wisconsin Southern Railroad in Dane County. Bridge overlay project involved concrete milling, Types 1 & 2 deck preparation, full depth deck repairs, concrete approach panel repairs, HMA pavement, temporary traffic signalization, traffic detours, & beam guard improvements.



USH 12: Sauk City – Middleton Road, Wisconsin River Bridge, Dane County, Project ID: 5300-03-73/75

Project Engineer for the 4.9 million reconstruction/expansion of the USH 12 Bridge over the Wisconsin River, an environmentally sensitive project involving bald eagle nesting restrictions, State listed fresh water mussel relocation, swallow nesting restrictions, and fresh water fish spawning restrictions. Project widened the existing seven span steel girder bridge from two to four lanes using staged traffic control. Project consisted of a manmade causeway, cofferdam construction, as well as a concrete substructure and superstructure. Project also consisted of a concrete retaining wall/bike path, storm sewer, concrete pavement, HMA pavement, and intersection realignment with traffic signals and decorative lighting. Generated engineers estimate for the bridge construction during the design phase. Generated power point slide show and gave public presentations to local Optimist Club, Kiwanis Chapter, & several classes of high school students.
