USH 14 Right-of-way Assessment Study, Cross Plains to Middleton Road, Dane County, Project ID: 5310-00-09
DAAR Engineering performed work necessary to analyze right-of-way impacts for a future 4-lane expansion of USH 14 between Cross Plains and Middleton in Dane County. Conceptual plans were developed including development of typical sections for all roadways, development of horizontal alignments and profiles, determination of proposed right-of-way limits and an assessment of future needs.
An inventory of the existing roadway corridor was taken. This included recreating existing geometry from as-built plans and an inventory of existing right-of-way. Evaluation of potential impacts to an adjacent railroad corridor and cross-sections in rock cut were also part of this project.

Madison Beltline Operational Needs Assessment. (Middleton - Cambridge Road), Dane County, Project IDs: 5300-02-09
DAAR provided services to Earth Tech on this project. The purpose of the project is to identify areas along the Madison Beltline for operational and safety improvements. There are 18 existing interchanges along this corridor. Short-term improvements will be recommended to address critical safety problems and to maximize the utility and capacity of the existing infrastructure.
DAAR performed data collection for the project, including recreating the alignment for the entire corridor from USH 14 in Middleton to CTH N east of Interstate 39/90/94. Geometric and other deficiencies were identified using as-built plans, pavement inspection reports, bridge information from the Highway Structures Inventory System (HSI), other pertinent documents and field reviews.

USH 12/CTH P Interchange Analysis and Right-of-way Assessment Study, Dane County, Project ID: 5300-05-01
DAAR Engineering performed work necessary to analyze interchange alternatives and subsequent right-of-way impacts at an existing at-grade intersection on USH 12 at CTH P in Dane County. This two-phased project consisted of analyzing three different alternative interchange types, including provisions for a one-quadrant interchange, a diamond interchange and a partial cloverleaf interchange. Interchange warranting criteria outlined in GDHS were used to develop a recommended alternative, as well as right-of-way impacts. Conceptual plans were developed for the WisDOT preferred alternative.

WisDOT Southwest Region, I.D. 5573-00-31, STH 136 (Broadway Street), Sauk County
Design Services for the painting of the Broadway Street Bridge over the Baraboo River in the Village of Rock Springs. Poor deterioration of the existing bridge paint established the need for maintenance. The project involved negative air containment; coating removal by abrasive blasting; painting; traffic control; and environmental and utility coordination.

WisDOT Southwest Region, I.D. 5881-07-00, USH 12/16 (Clifton Street), Monroe County
Design Services for the pavement replacement of a 2.18-mile, 4-lane divided highway in the City of Tomah. Poor drainage throughout the project area was causing premature faulting in the subgrade. The existing pavement condition was poor and faulting beyond regular maintenance activities. Project included survey; new pavement structure; extensive drainage investigations to correct siltation and plugging of driveway and cross culverts; public involvement; hazardous materials investigation; construction staging plans; permanent marking and signing; environmental documentation; utility coordination; and agency coordination. Solutions to the drainage problems on USH12/16 were complicated due to the poor soils in the area. Problems encountered were ditch erosion, siltation, standing water, and obstruction of driveway culverts.

WisDOT Northeast Region, I.D. 4110-15-00, USH 45, South County Line to Oshkosh, Winnebago County
Design Services for a 2-lane, 7.2-mile rural highway resurfacing project. The pavement age was past the expected performance for asphaltic overlays. Other problems included drainage issues along the project as well as visibility at driveways and intersections. Traffic patterns indicated that traffic would drive slower due to the perceived narrow width. Therefore, adequate vision and removal of roadside obstacles was provided to promote faster travel speeds and fewer accidents. Project includes bike accommodations; spot drainage analysis; public involvement; environmental documentation; utility coordination; and agency coordination.
